Everton sign midfielder Norgaard from Arsenal

Everton has secured the signing of Danish international midfielder Christian Norgaard from Arsenal, agreeing to a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee, reported to be £7 million. The 32-year-old joins the Toffees after a season with Arsenal, where he made 20 appearances across all competitions, though only seven came in the Premier League.

Norgaard's move comes after he was omitted from Arsenal's squad for a friendly against Real Betis. He previously spent six years at Brentford, becoming a key player and captain, making 196 appearances for the club.

The acquisition is seen as a move to bolster Everton's squad with experience, a priority for manager David Moyes. This follows the departures of veteran players like Republic of Ireland defender Seamus Coleman and Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gueye. The team also faces the absence of midfielder James Garner, 25, who is set to miss the start of the new season due to groin surgery.

Everton's Premier League campaign is scheduled to commence on Saturday, August 22, against Crystal Palace at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. The club has also been active in the transfer market, signing central midfielder Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough for £16.5 million and winger Tyrique George from Chelsea for £18 million.
