Ex-Bauchi Rep dumps APC for PRP

Aminu Danmaliki, a former member of Nigeria's House of Representatives for the Bauchi Federal Constituency, has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his decision to join the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP). Danmaliki, who has been active in politics since 2003, made the announcement during a press briefing on Saturday, stating his move was driven by principle rather than political convenience.

He emphasized that his departure from the APC was without resentment, driven by a conviction that leadership must actively respond to the struggles of ordinary Nigerians. He lamented the country's economic challenges, including widespread hunger, unemployment, and inadequate healthcare and education, arguing that government's role is to protect and improve citizens' lives.

Danmaliki described the PRP as a party founded on ideals of social justice, accountability, quality education, affordable healthcare, rural development, and economic opportunities, asserting that these principles remain relevant to Nigeria's current situation. He also commented on Bauchi State, noting its rich agricultural, mineral, and human resources, which he believes have been hampered by poor leadership and inconsistent policy implementation.

Reflecting on his career, which includes experience as a journalist, commissioner, entrepreneur, and head of the Bauchi Chamber of Commerce, Danmaliki reiterated his lifelong commitment to improving people's lives. He announced his endorsement of Senator Shehu Buba for the PRP's gubernatorial candidacy in Bauchi State for the 2027 elections, describing Buba as "a man of courage, vision and commitment." Danmaliki pledged to leverage his political experience and network to support the PRP's success in the state.
