Ex-gov’s aide linked to kidnap syndicate in Katsina

Nura Garwa, a former Senior Special Assistant on Community Development to the Katsina State Governor, is currently under investigation for his alleged ties to a kidnapping syndicate. The Katsina State Police Command recently paraded Garwa and other suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping of an eight-year-old boy in the Sardauna Estate area of Katsina metropolis.

The Katsina State Government confirmed that Garwa had been suspended from his position prior to his alleged involvement in criminal activities and his subsequent intention to contest for a seat in the Katsina State House of Assembly. His suspension stemmed from accusations of diverting empowerment materials intended for communities in the Batsari Local Government Area as part of the state's Community Development Programme.

Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State described the gang's activities as unfortunate, especially given the profile of one of the individuals involved, who had aspired to a legislative position. The governor lauded the state police command and other security agencies for their dedication to securing the state.
