Ex-Imo gov candidate commends Wike for transforming Abuja with infrastructure projects

Uche Nwosu, who previously ran for governor of Imo State under the Action Alliance party, has commended Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for the significant infrastructural development occurring in Abuja. Nwosu's praise comes amidst ongoing public discussions about the FCT Administration's performance under Wike, who has been actively pursuing an aggressive infrastructure renewal program since taking office.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Nwosu lauded Wike's leadership, citing the execution of critical infrastructure projects, including major roads, bridges, and public facilities. He asserted that residents and visitors can readily observe the positive impact of the development initiatives spearheaded by Wike's administration. Nwosu, who has lived in Abuja for over 25 years, noted the dramatic transformation of many roads that were previously in poor condition.

I have lived in Abuja for over 25 years and I know what many of these roads looked like before now.

He specifically pointed to projects such as the Apo Road, Maitama Bridge, Jahi Bridge, the Jahi–Gwarimpa interchange, the Airport Expressway leading to Kuje Road, the Kuje–Gwagwalada Road, and the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) main carriageways, along with adjoining road networks in Katampe District, as clear evidence of purposeful governance. Since assuming his role as FCT Minister in August 2023, Wike has prioritized infrastructure delivery, initiating and commissioning numerous road projects across the six area councils and the city center.

Nwosu emphasized that providing infrastructure and delivering the dividends of democracy are fundamental responsibilities of any government, and he believes the FCT Minister has distinguished himself in fulfilling these duties. He also commended the construction of the judges' quarters, viewing it as a crucial step toward enhancing the welfare of judicial officers. Furthermore, the former Imo governorship candidate stressed the importance of Nigeria's capital city aligning with global standards, arguing that Abuja should be comparable to major international capitals. He believes that investments in infrastructure, security, and environmental cleanliness are essential for improving the nation's image and ensuring a positive experience for both residents and visitors. Nwosu concluded by stating that the ongoing transformation of Abuja under Wike's leadership warrants recognition, describing the minister's performance as one of the most impactful in the FCT's history.
