Ex-Intelligence Officer on Trial for Alleged Russian Espionage in Vienna

The trial of Egisto Ott, a former Austrian intelligence officer accused of espionage for Russia, has begun in Vienna. The prosecution alleges that Ott gathered intelligence on Russian dissidents and provided sensitive information, including mobile phones of high-ranking Austrian officials, to Moscow. His alleged handler was the internationally sought-after Jan Marsalek, a former Wirecard executive, and Bulgarian individuals previously convicted in London as part of a Russian spy ring.
