Ex-lawmaker Jang Hye-young launches YouTube channel for 'big talk' politics without hate

Former lawmaker Jang Hye-young is launching a new YouTube channel, "Unbearable Political Big Talk," aiming to foster political dialogue beyond the usual partisan bickering. Jang, who previously ran a platform called "Mangwonjeong X," believes there's a need for discussions that connect politics to people's daily lives, especially for those disengaged from traditional politics.

"There are so many political and current affairs YouTube channels, but most are centered on the two main parties and partisan politics," Jang told The Hankyoreh. "I thought there was a need for discussions that lower the threshold for politics, allowing people who dislike the way politics is broadcast as a fight to engage with politics that changes their lives."

Jang intends to bypass small talk and dive straight into "big talk," focusing on issues like climate change, inflation, education, and discrimination. She wants to create a space where people unfamiliar with political noise can understand and find their place within societal changes. The channel also aims to be a "clean political YouTube" free from hate speech and discriminatory remarks, a persistent issue on many political platforms.

The first two episodes of "Unbearable Political Big Talk," each about 20 minutes long, are set to premiere on the 8th.
