Ex-NPHCDA Boss Wins Nasarawa APC Senatorial Ticket

In Nasarawa State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its primary election for the Nasarawa West Senatorial zone, with Dr. Faisal Shuaib emerging as the clear winner. Dr. Shuaib, who previously served as the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), secured the party's ticket through an affirmation process, garnering an impressive 98,614 votes.

The aspirant, Faisal Shuaib, polled a total of 98,614 votes through an affirmation process. Therefore, as the Returning Officer for the Nasarawa West Senatorial Primary Election of the APC, I hereby declare him as the winner of the primary election.

The election, held on May 18, 2026, was reportedly conducted peacefully and transparently across all local government areas within the senatorial district, including Keffi, Toto, Nasarawa, Kokona, and Karu. The Returning Officer for the APC National Assembly Primary Elections committee in Nasarawa State, Musa Guri, declared Shuaib the winner, commending the smooth conduct of the exercise.

Governor Abdullahi Sule was acknowledged for his role in providing an enabling environment and necessary cooperation to the committee, ensuring the primary elections proceeded without interference. This support from the state government is often crucial for the successful execution of party primaries and reflects a coordinated effort to ensure party cohesion.

The primaries were peacefully conducted and transparently observed in all the local government areas, which included Keffi, Toto, Nasarawa, Kokona and Karu, adding that the candidate polled 98,614 votes through an affirmation process.

Following the declaration, Yusuf Omaki, the Acting Director-General of the DFS Campaign Movement, expressed confidence in Dr. Shuaib's leadership qualities and his potential to serve the zone effectively in the Nigerian Senate. Omaki also emphasized the importance of reconciliation among all contenders who participated in the primaries, stressing the need for a united front as the party prepares for the general elections in 2027.
