Ex-snooker champion Graeme Dott convicted of child sex abuse

Former snooker world champion Graeme Dott has been found guilty of sexually abusing two primary school children in Scotland. The 49-year-old Scot was convicted of abusing a girl between 1993 and 1996, and a boy from 2006 to 2010, following a five-day trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

Detective Inspector Gary Smillie of Police Scotland labeled Dott "a dangerous individual," expressing hope that the conviction brings comfort to those affected by his crimes. The court ordered Dott to be held in custody pending his sentencing on September 29.

During the trial, the female victim, now in her 40s, testified about multiple instances of abuse, including inappropriate touching and exposure. The male victim, now in his late 20s, also reported multiple instances of sexual abuse by Dott.

Snooker's governing body had suspended Dott in April 2025 after he was charged. Following the conviction, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association revoked his membership and requested his immediate removal from the World Snooker Tour Hall of Fame.
