Ex-SSG emerges Rivers ADC governorship candidate

Gabriel Pidomson has emerged as the governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State. Pidomson clinched the party's ticket after securing 112,086 votes in the primary election, which took place across the state's 23 local government areas.

Carol Obaro, the Chairman of the ADC Primary Election in Rivers State, declared Pidomson the winner after collating the final results at the ADC secretariat in Port Harcourt on Saturday night. Sekonte Davies came in a distant second with 16,872 votes, while Farah Dagogo, a former governorship aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party, secured 2,369 votes for third place.

Other aspirants in the race included Leloonu Nwibubasa, who garnered 1,476 votes; Allen Ezekiel Hart, with 268 votes; and Henry Ogbonna, who received 546 votes. Pidomson's victory signifies a key step for the ADC as they prepare for the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Rivers State.

Therefore, the highest score here I have 112, 068 votes for Gabriel Pidomson have satisfied the requirements of the ADC and the constitution scored the highest votes and is hereby declared the winner of the primary election and is returned elected as the ADC gubernatorial candidate in Rivers State this day 22nd of May 2026.
