Exclusive: FIFA wary of political interference as it orders on-site inspection of KFA

International concern over South Korean football has prompted FIFA to take a direct look at the country’s football administration. The governing body, which strongly guards against political interference in football, has decided to conduct an on-site inspection of the Korea Football Association.

FIFA will visit the KFA to assess the situation surrounding Korean football, including concerns about a possible violation of the association’s autonomy. The review will also cover the K-Football Innovation Committee established by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The decision places the relationship between the government and the national football association under international scrutiny. The move follows what has been described as growing concern outside South Korea over the state of Korean football.
