Expanded search for man who injured two; suspect is armed

A comprehensive search is ongoing for a 42-year-old man suspected of seriously injuring two young men in a shooting outside a nightclub in Čakovec, Croatia. Authorities have located the vehicle used by the suspect but have confirmed his mobile phone is switched off.

The investigation is proceeding on two fronts: one team is meticulously examining the motive behind the brutal attack, while another is actively conducting a ground search across multiple police jurisdictions, including neighboring Varaždin and Sisak-Moslavina counties. Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that the suspect may have fled to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he has a prior conviction.

The investigation is currently divided into two parts. One part of the investigator team is thoroughly combing and trying to unravel the cause of this brutal attack in front of the nightclub, while another part is thoroughly developing plans and forming locations on the ground where the 42-year-old man will be searched.

Domagoj Mikić, speaking to Dnevnik Nove TV, stated that the Međimurje Police Department, in constant coordination with the County State Attorney's Office in Varaždin, is undertaking all legally prescribed measures to locate and apprehend the suspect. The State Attorney's Office is continuously issuing necessary orders and authorizations for investigative and other legally mandated actions.

Police are warning the public that the individual is armed and dangerous. They strongly advise anyone who spots the suspect or has any information that could aid the investigation to immediately contact the nearest police station or call the emergency number 192. Crucially, the public is urged not to approach the individual for their own safety.
