Expert warns families to watch for signs of speech delay in children

A child’s speech development cannot be judged by counting words alone, according to pediatric neurologist Prof. Dr. Dilara Füsun İçağasıoğlu.

She said families should assess language alongside social communication skills. The specialist highlighted a lack of eye contact, failure to respond to sounds and excessive screen use as important signs in a child’s development.
