Expired soft drinks and pest infestation found at Bengaluru hockey club

A food safety inspection at Bengaluru’s Hockey Club found 40 bottles of expired soft drinks, along with pest infestation and unhygienic conditions in areas used to prepare and store food.

Officials also found soda bottles with labels that did not meet Food Safety and Standards Authority of India requirements. They seized expired food products and other items carrying non-compliant labels during the inspection, conducted within Greater Bengaluru Authority limits.

The Food Safety Division of the Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration issued a notice to the club’s food business operator. The department said the pest infestation created conditions that could lead to food contamination.

In view of the deficiencies observed relating to food safety and hygiene, a notice has been issued to the concerned Food Business Operator (FBO), and further legal action will be initiated as per the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the applicable Regulations, 2011.
