Explosion Near Velika Gorica: Device Detonated Near Home with Four Inside

An explosion rocked a residential area near Velika Gorica, Croatia, early Thursday morning when an unknown perpetrator detonated an explosive device in the yard of a family home. The blast occurred around 0:10 on August 13, 2026.

The force of the explosion damaged the entrance door and wall of the family home, the garage door, and two personal vehicles owned by the 42-year-old.

The force of the explosion caused significant damage to the home's entrance door and wall, as well as the garage door and two vehicles belonging to the 42-year-old homeowner. Neighboring properties also sustained damage, with windows and gutters on an adjacent house owned by a 33-year-old being impacted.

Most concerningly, four people were inside the family home at the time of the detonation. Fortunately, despite the substantial material damage, none of the occupants were injured. The full extent of the financial damage is still being assessed.

Damage also occurred to the neighboring house owned by the 33-year-old, where window panes and a gutter were damaged.

Zagreb police are treating the incident as a case of endangerment to life and property. A criminal investigation is underway to determine all the circumstances surrounding the event and to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for planting and detonating the explosive device.
