F1H2O Racing: Issyk-Kul Expects Over 10,000 Guests

Issyk-Kul lake in Kyrgyzstan is preparing to host the UIM F1H2O World Championship, an international powerboat racing event, expecting over 10,000 visitors. Eduard Kubatov, director of the State Agency for Tourism Development, announced the figures at a press conference, highlighting the significant influx of guests.

Now the coastal zone, the largest cottage villages are already fully booked by guests of the international championship. I hope that the potential and resources of Cholpon-Ata, the villages of Sary-Oi, Bosteri and Baet will be enough.

A major challenge identified is accommodating the large number of attendees, as coastal areas and major cottage settlements are already fully booked. Kubatov expressed hope that the existing infrastructure in Cholpon-Ata and nearby villages would be sufficient.

The agency intends to make the F1H2O championship an annual event in Kyrgyzstan. Kubatov also mentioned plans to introduce races featuring electric and hybrid boats in the future to address public concerns about environmental impact. He personally assumes responsibility for any potential consequences, stating that the program could be canceled if even minor ecological issues arise.

Next year, to allay public concerns, we will hold a championship related to the use of electric and hybrid racing cars. I will personally bear responsibility for possible consequences as the director of the state agency, as the initiator of the project. Even if there are minor environmental consequences, we can simply abandon this event in the future and close this program.

The championship, scheduled from July 31 to August 2, 2026, is seen as an opportunity to boost Kyrgyzstan's international profile. Daily tickets cost $100, with a three-day pass priced at $200. All VIP zone tickets have already been sold.
