Fagersta students return to school dressed in black to mourn fatal stabbing

Students returned to school in Fagersta on Monday, many dressed in black and with flags flying at half-mast, following a fatal stabbing that occurred on Friday. The Brinellskolan school, the site where a 17-year-old girl was killed and three boys were injured, remains closed and under police cordon. Instead, high school students are being welcomed at a crisis center in Risbohallen, where support staff are available. The community is grappling with the aftermath of the violence, with many young people expressing their grief and solidarity. A message circulating on TikTok and other social media platforms encouraged students to wear black as a sign of mourning and support for the victims. Saga Hed Bergröm, a middle school student, explained that the black clothing is intended "to honor the victims and show our support." Her classmate, Gry Säll, added that they are looking forward to gathering with friends to discuss the events. On Friday afternoon, during the incident, students had been in sports class and locked themselves in a storage room. "At first, we didn't think it was serious. Now you're starting to take in what happened," Säll said, reflecting the initial disbelief and dawning realization of the tragedy.
