FAI Panorama Day returns with a journey through landscape protection and appreciation

Italy’s landscapes will become the focus of a nationwide program of walks, guided visits, outdoor activities and cultural events during the 13th FAI Panorama Day. The initiative encourages visitors to look closely at the country’s varied scenery and understand both its value and its fragility.

Organized by the Italian Environment Fund, known as FAI, in cooperation with Oasi Zegna, the event will cover 19 landscapes in 11 regions. Activities will range from panoramic observation and environmental walks to trekking, marine exploration, children’s programs, concerts and creative workshops.

The organizers present the landscapes as products of the relationship between nature and human settlement. Mountains, coastlines, art cities, hills, agricultural areas, islands and natural habitats are described as expressions of the identity of the communities that live in them. The event takes on added importance as the effects of climate change and human activity become increasingly visible.

Several FAI properties will participate for the first time. At the Brion Memorial in Altivole, visitors will explore Carlo Scarpa’s work and its surrounding landscape. Casa Noha in Matera will offer a sunrise route through the Sassi. Villa Rezzola in Lerici will provide views over the Gulf of Poets, while the Bosco di San Francesco in Assisi will combine medieval spirituality with contemporary land art.

Other events include a Sip&Paint session at Villa Gregoriana in Tivoli, concerts and exhibitions at Oasi Zegna in the Biellese Alps, and a weekend walk through the gardens, hills and botanical biodiversity of Bergamo Alta. At the Castle of Manta, visitors will examine the night sky during a Saturday evening observation.
