Fake guns, real danger: Halifax police warn about rising trend among youth

Halifax police are issuing a stern warning regarding the increasing prevalence of imitation firearms, specifically BB guns and airsoft guns, among the city's youth. The force has noted a significant uptick in incidents involving these weapons, highlighting the potential for serious harm.

Authorities report responding to approximately 60 incidents involving BB guns or airsoft guns since the beginning of the year. Alarmingly, a substantial portion of these calls, 20 in total, directly involved young individuals. This trend has prompted concern among law enforcement officials about the safety implications for both the youth themselves and the wider community.

The police service is urging parents and guardians to be aware of the dangers associated with these devices.
