Fake SSS operative arrested in Abuja - Official

Nigeria's State Security Service (SSS) has apprehended a man identified as Moferewa Maiye for allegedly impersonating a deceased SSS personnel. The arrest occurred on Wednesday when operatives, tracking the suspect, raided his hideout near NITEL Junction in Wuse II, Abuja.

According to a statement from the SSS media unit, Mr. Maiye was found in possession of an SSS tactical uniform and a fake pistol at the time of his arrest. He confessed that the uniform belonged to his late brother, Monday Maiye, who was reportedly an SSS official who passed away years ago. The SSS indicated that the suspect used the uniform and the toy weapon to intimidate commuters and motorists, extorting money from them.

The suspect, who hails from Agbajojun village in Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State, is currently undergoing interrogation. Investigators are working to determine the extent of his alleged impersonation and extortion activities.
