Family Continues Late Husband's Charity Work for Children

For over two decades, the Huang family has dedicated themselves to supporting disadvantaged children through the North Taichung Home for Children's Committee for Child Support. This commitment, initially shared by Huang Tu Jia-wen and her late husband, Huang Long-zhou, has become a deeply ingrained family value.

Huang Long-zhou, who previously served as vice-chairperson, and his wife began their involvement after witnessing the devastation caused by the 921 earthquake. Though he has since passed away, Huang Tu Jia-wen has carried on their shared mission, actively mobilizing resources and encouraging others to join the cause. She has devoted more than 20 years to this work.

Charity is not just a one-time effort; it has become a belief passed down through generations of a family.

Her stepdaughter, Huang Ling-qin, inspired by her parents' dedication, joined the committee in 2018. She actively assists her mother in connecting with businesses and securing resources to further the committee's efforts. Huang Ling-qin emphasized that charity is not an individual responsibility but a shared family belief, a sentiment she aims to pass on.

Even her stepson, who resides in Japan, contributes to the committee's work. Despite living abroad, he leverages his successful career and network to support the cause. The committee currently assists 1,295 families and 2,396 children, with each number representing a family in need of support.

Seeing Dad and Mom always involved in the Home for Children, I always felt that charity is not one person's responsibility, but something the family believes in together. I hope to pass on this kindness.
