Fanny Avonne: 'Culture should not just exist for those who can afford it'

Swedish artist Fanny Avonne is embracing her mid-twenties with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation. Reflecting on her summer, she shared the excitement of completing her first solo tour and celebrating her 25th birthday. "I feel that it just keeps getting better and better every year," Avonne remarked, acknowledging the positive trajectory of her life and career.

Avonne envisions a perfect summer day as a tranquil escape. She prefers waking up around nine or ten, ideally in a countryside cottage or just outside the city. Her ideal day includes a leisurely breakfast with coffee in the sun, a long walk, yoga, a swim, and journaling. The evening would involve grilling, wine, and quality time with friends and family, capped off with a late-night dip. "It feels almost like being abroad," she said of her recent experiences in Smögen and Båstad, two Swedish coastal towns she discovered last summer and found magical.

When asked about the year's biggest cultural event, Avonne humorously suggested her Grammis award for newcomer of the year might count. She also revealed a preference for spending time with Dua Lipa, imagining a Mediterranean vacation filled with natural wine and oysters, learning how to "vacation max" at that level. Despite admitting to dyslexia impacting her reading habits, Avonne identifies as a "performative book reader," enjoying the idea more than the act. Her personal philosophy, which she calls "vibemaxxing," focuses on creating the right atmosphere through lighting, music, and scent, whether at home or in social settings.
