Fans jeer as Lens suffer surprise home defeat to Lorient

Lens suffered a second consecutive Ligue 1 defeat on Saturday, losing 1-0 at home to Lorient as 19-year-old Mamadou Kone scored the visitors’ winner. Supporters jeered the home team off the pitch after the final whistle.

Lorient absorbed Lens’ pressure before taking advantage of a midfield mistake. Noah Mbamba played in Panos Katseris, whose low cross from the right allowed Kone to score from close range. It was the teenager’s first Ligue 1 goal and Lorient’s first victory of the campaign.

Lorient goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo made several important saves to protect the lead. Lens were reduced to 10 men late on when defender Souleymane Sagnan received a second yellow card.

Brest also earned its first win of the season, beating 10-man Le Havre 2-1. Kamory Doumbia scored twice, taking his tally to four goals in three league matches. Nice and Le Mans drew 1-1, leaving both sides still without a victory this season.
