Farage wins Clacton by-election, defeats rival Count Binface

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has secured victory in the Clacton by-election, comfortably defeating his satirical opponent Count Binface. The results, announced early Friday, confirmed Farage's expected win in the constituency where he previously served as a Member of Parliament.

Farage garnered 22,239 votes, significantly outnumbering Count Binface, who achieved a surprisingly strong showing with 9,455 votes. Farage had already declared victory earlier on Friday, prior to the official count's conclusion, addressing a crowd of supporters.

The election saw Farage run unopposed by any of the country's major political parties. Both Farage and Count Binface outperformed a field of numerous joke candidates, independents, and members of fringe political parties. Candidates on stage at the Clacton Leisure Centre, where the vote count took place, were observed cheering for one another, with many receiving fewer than 100 votes.

Voter turnout for the by-election stood at 44 percent. While lower than the 59 percent turnout recorded in the 2024 general election, this figure is not unusual for a by-election. Officials had cautioned that the vote count might extend beyond the usual timeframe due to the length of the ballot papers.
