Farmers run out of feed, forcing some to cull herds as milk and meat prices fall

Severe drought has taken away a substantial share of this year's livestock feed, leaving farmers in some parts of the region with difficult choices. In the foothill areas, several breeders have already begun reducing their herds because they lack enough fodder.

The shortage is not the only pressure on agricultural businesses. Milk and meat prices have also fallen, making it harder for farmers to absorb the impact of the dry conditions.

The situation varies across the region. Farmers in the more fertile Haná area are reporting more favorable conditions, in contrast to breeders in the foothills, where the feed shortage has become acute.
