Fatal antisemitic attacks highest in over 30 years, report finds

The past year witnessed the most fatal antisemitic attacks in over three decades, a stark reality highlighted in a recent report by J7, a task force representing major Jewish communities. The findings paint a grim picture of rising violence and a normalization of hatred.

The report details 20 deaths resulting from antisemitic assaults in Australia, Britain, and the United States. This figure marks the deadliest year for such attacks in the Jewish diaspora since the 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, which claimed 85 lives. Incidents included a mass shooting during Hanukkah celebrations near Australia's Bondi Beach that killed 15 people, an attack on a synagogue in Manchester, UK, during Yom Kippur that left two dead, and two separate attacks in the United States resulting in three fatalities.

Overall, the seven monitored countries recorded over 23,000 antisemitic incidents in the past year. This represents a significant surge compared to approximately 9,800 incidents in 2022, the year before the October 7, 2023, attacks by Hamas on Israel. The total number of antisemitic incidents has increased by 136% since 2022, with violent incidents rising by 97%. While there was a decrease in incidents between 2024 and 2025, the numbers remain substantially higher than pre-October 2023 levels.
