Fatal Sanxia Crash: Victims' Families Struggle for Compensation Over a Year Later

More than a year after a devastating car crash in Sanxia District, New Taipei City, claimed four lives and injured eleven others, victims' families are struggling to secure compensation. The accident, which occurred on May 19 last year, also resulted in the death of the driver, Yu Wen-cheng.

Prosecutors determined that Yu was in normal mental and operational condition at the time of the crash, leading to investigations for murder and endangering public safety. However, due to his death from injuries sustained in the accident, the case was closed without indictment. Legal experts anticipate that cases with elements of intentional homicide could lead to substantial damage awards, including significant compensation for pain and suffering.
