Father of Actor Alp Balkan Dies 24 Days After Son's Passing

The Turkish entertainment world is mourning a second profound loss within a month, as Mustafa Balkan, the father of beloved actor Alp Balkan, has died. His passing comes a mere 24 days after his son, Alp, who gained fame for his role as "Eczacı Bahadır" in the iconic series "Mahallenin Muhtarları," passed away on May 12.

The devastating news of Mustafa Balkan's death was shared by the Film-San Foundation, a prominent institution in the cinema and television industry. In a poignant statement, the foundation conveyed their condolences: "It's been exactly 24 days since we lost our friend Alp Balkan. Unfortunately, we have also lost his father, Uncle Mustafa. May God have mercy on him. May his place be heaven."

Mustafa Balkan's grief was palpable at his son's funeral just weeks prior. Reports and images from the ceremony depicted the elder Balkan, brought to the mosque courtyard in a wheelchair due to his age and health issues, remaining steadfastly by his son's flag-draped coffin. His visible sorrow deeply moved those in attendance.

Overwhelmed by the loss of his son, Mustafa Balkan succumbed to his grief. He will be laid to rest today following a funeral prayer at the Bakırköy Yenimahalle Mosque. His final resting place will be in the Büyükçekmece New Cemetery, near his son Alp, who was buried there just 24 days ago.
