FC Augsburg complete two loan signings on deadline day

FC Augsburg made two late additions before the summer transfer window closed, bringing in Arijon Ibrahimovic from Bayern Munich and Juma Bah from Manchester City. Both players will spend the season in Augsburg on loan, with the Bundesliga club holding an option to buy each of them.

Ibrahimovic, 20, returned to Bayern after a loan spell at relegated Bundesliga club Heidenheim. He completed the entire summer preparation with Bayern’s first team and extended his contract until 2028. But competition in Munich’s attack remains intense, and Augsburg offers the versatile forward a clearer path to regular appearances.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said the club had agreed with Ibrahimovic that another loan would be best for his development. “He is a young player with great potential and needs regular playing time at this stage,” Freund said. Bayern will continue to closely monitor his progress in Augsburg. The reported loan fee is 500,000 euros, and Augsburg’s purchase option could keep the player there beyond the season.

Ibrahimovic said he was attracted by the challenge at what he called an ambitious Bundesliga club. “I also want to develop and get plenty of playing time,” he said. He will wear the number 21 shirt in Augsburg.

Bah, also 20, arrives as a replacement for Keven Schlotterbeck, who moved to Southampton. The Sierra Leone international joined Manchester City in January 2025 and subsequently spent time on loan at French clubs RC Lens and OGC Nice. Augsburg sporting director Benni Weber praised the defender’s size, physical strength and early experience at the highest level of European football.
