FC Bayern's Tanikawa shares love for pretzels and Oktoberfest ahead of Japan trip

Ahead of FC Bayern Munich's upcoming trip to Japan, Japanese national team player Momoko Tanikawa has revealed her favorite German foods. The 21-year-old offensive player, who joined Bayern at the start of 2025, expressed a particular liking for "Brezn" (pretzels) and "Weißwurst" (a type of white sausage).

Despite her appreciation for Bavarian cuisine, Tanikawa admitted that when she cooks with others in Munich, they almost always prepare "Gyoza," Japanese dumplings. She also reflected on her experience at the Oktoberfest, calling it a place where one can truly feel "what makes Germany tick." Tanikawa shared a fond memory of attending the festival with her mother and a friend, noting their enjoyment of the large one-liter beer mugs.

Tanikawa is looking forward to the team's six-day tour in Tokyo, which includes training sessions, media events, and a friendly match against RB Omiya, a Japanese first-division club affiliated with the Red Bull group. She expressed immense excitement about the opportunity to play in Japan with FC Bayern Munich.

"And of course, we want to show in Japan that we, as Bayern, belong to the absolute top clubs in the world," Tanikawa stated, reflecting the team's ambition. Hailing from Nagoya, she is eager to represent her club on home soil and showcase Bayern's global standing in the sport.
