FCSB Sells Key Midfielder Darius Olaru to Belgium for 3 Million Euros

FCSB has transferred one of its key players, Darius Olaru, to Belgian club Royal Union for 3 million euros. This move signifies the end of Olaru's six-year career with the Romanian club, where he was instrumental in securing two league championships, a Romanian Cup, and two Super Cups.

At 26 years old and a product of Gaz Metan Mediaș's youth system, Olaru is embarking on his first international playing experience at a significant point in his career. The transfer fee positions the Romanian international among the club's most valuable sales in the Gigi Becali era, ranking within the top ten. Dennis Man, who moved to Parma for 12.6 million euros, leads this list, followed by notable players like Nicu Stanciu and Vlad Chiricheș.

Since Gigi Becali took over in 2003, FCSB has generated over 125 million euros from player transfers. The 2016-2017 season was particularly lucrative, bringing in more than 18 million euros, largely due to the sale of Nicu Stanciu to Anderlecht for 11 million euros, alongside transfers of Alexandru Chipciu, Fernando Varela, Alin Toșca, and Jugurtha Hamroun. This period marked the club's most profitable year for player sales.
