FCT projects will boost APC’s chances in 2027 elections - Wike

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) will see improved electoral results in the FCT in 2027, attributing this optimism to the administration's ongoing infrastructure development.

What the people want is simple. They want to feel the impact of governance. It is not about magic. Nigerians are interested in good governance, infrastructure, electricity and improved living conditions.

Wike, speaking after inspecting projects slated for commissioning during President Tinubu's second year in office, asserted that FCT residents are beginning to recognize the tangible benefits of good governance. He emphasized that citizens desire practical improvements like infrastructure and electricity, not just rhetoric. The minister pointed to the APC's performance in recent Area Council elections as evidence of growing support for the administration.

He cited the A2-Pai Road in Kwali as a key project, noting it was the first time a sitting president had visited the area to inaugurate such an initiative. Wike challenged opposition figures to visit the FCT and witness the projects firsthand.

I think it will be interesting for the public to see governance in action. I wonder where the opposition or coalition members are. They should come and see what is happening in the FCT.

The minister revealed that at least 20 projects, including road networks like Gomani-Yangoji and Kuje-Gwagwalada, and facilities such as the Appeal Court Complex rehabilitation and Judges' Quarters construction, are scheduled for inauguration. He indicated the number could rise as more projects near completion, underscoring the administration's commitment to widespread development.

I said not less than 20 projects, but it may even be more than 20 because I did not include the water projects at Bwari and Karu. There are also projects in the Abuja Municipal Area Council and Bwari Area Councils.
