Federal High Court begins relocation to new complex in Lagos

The Federal High Court's Lagos Judicial Division is undergoing a significant transition, moving to a newly completed complex in Ikoyi. This relocation marks the end of a more than decade-long construction period for the facility, which is situated on Bourdillon Road.

The move commenced on July 31 and is being executed in phases to ensure a smooth transition and minimize disruptions to ongoing court proceedings and administrative functions. The initial phase includes the relocation of Vacation Courts 7 and 12, along with Courts 2, 3, 4, and 5. Key administrative offices, including those of the Chief Registrar, Deputy Chief Registrars, and the Electronic Litigation Registrar, are also part of this first phase.

Court officials have urged the Nigerian Bar Association, litigants, the Lagos State Government, and the general public to take note of the relocation and make necessary adjustments. Lawyers and litigants with cases before the affected courts are advised to confirm the venue of their proceedings as the relocation progresses. Further announcements will be made as the remaining courts and offices are moved.

The new complex is anticipated to provide a substantial upgrade in facilities, offering a more conducive environment for judges, lawyers, litigants, and other court users. This move is expected to enhance the efficiency and overall experience of judicial processes within the Lagos division.
