Federal judge orders protection for PRI official and family after funeral wreath threat

A federal judge has ordered protection for Paola Gárate Valenzuela, the former state president of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and current local deputy, along with her family. This measure comes after a funeral wreath was placed at the entrance of her home in Culiacán, Sinaloa.

The judicial resolution mandates that relevant authorities, including federal, state, and municipal security forces, provide assistance if required. The order specifically recommends patrols around Gárate Valenzuela's private residence to ensure her safety.

According to a statement released by the legislator, the protection order stems from an indirect amparo lawsuit she filed. Gárate Valenzuela sought urgent protective measures due to alleged threats and intimidation she has faced.

On the night of June 10, the PRI politician discovered the wreath outside her front door. She interpreted this act as a direct threat against her and her family, prompting her legal action.

The measures encompass various government bodies, including the Presidency, the Ministry of the Interior, the Secretariat of National Defense, the Secretariat of the Navy, the National Guard, and Public Security and Citizen Protection agencies, indicating the seriousness with which the threat is being addressed.
