Félix Salgado Can Register as Gubernatorial Aspirant; Requirements Must Be Met, Says Morena Official

Félix Salgado Macedonio may register as a candidate for governor, according to Citlalli Hernández Mora, president of the National Elections Commission for the Morena party. Hernández confirmed that Salgado Macedonio, as a party member, has the right to participate in the internal selection process for the 2027 elections.

"All militants can register," Hernández stated during a press conference where Morena presented its candidate registration calendar. She emphasized that while Salgado Macedonio can sign up, his candidacy is not guaranteed. Following the registration period, the National Elections Commission will meticulously review each profile to ensure compliance with all established requirements.

Among the key criteria is the prohibition of nepotism, a rule that will be closely scrutinized. Hernández clarified that Morena's internal bodies are responsible for analyzing and validating all applications, ultimately deciding on the eligibility of each aspirant. She also warned that serious violations of the party's guidelines could lead to sanctions, including the cancellation of a registration.

Furthermore, the National Commission of Honesty and Justice, Morena's internal watchdog for democratic principles and legality, will observe the entire process and monitor the conduct of all aspiring candidates. This oversight aims to ensure fairness and adherence to party rules throughout the selection of candidates for the upcoming gubernatorial race.
