Fenerbahçe Beko, ASVEL EuroLeague licenses extended

The EuroLeague has officially renewed the licenses for Turkish basketball club Fenerbahçe Beko and French team ASVEL, according to an announcement from the league's management. The decision was formally approved by the governing board, confirming the continued participation of both clubs in the prestigious European competition.

Discussions are reportedly continuing with Spanish club Real Madrid concerning their license extension. The announcement also detailed a planned expansion process for new markets, approved in March and set to commence officially on July 1. This initiative aims to support the EuroLeague's expansion, scheduled from the 2027-2028 season, potentially incorporating more teams and cities into the league. Cities like Rome, London, and Berlin have been highlighted as potential new markets.

In parallel, the BKT EuroCup will see an increase in its participating teams, expanding to 32 clubs. These teams will compete in four groups of eight. Furthermore, plans are in place to organize a two-day preseason tournament involving four teams, either this year or next.
