Fenerbahçe Board Convenes Amidst Financial Woes, Sets Sights on Championship and Champions League Return

Fenerbahçe's High Board of Directors convened at the Faruk Ilgaz Facilities to review financial reports and outline the club's objectives. Tanju Kaya, a member of the Fenerbahçe Executive Board, presented the activity report, highlighting the club's pressing financial needs. "We need 200 million Euros in cash to meet our obligations until May 2027," Kaya stated. He revealed that upon taking office on June 9, the board inherited 43 million Euros in overdue debt. Additionally, 55 million Euros were required by June to secure licenses from the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) and UEFA.

Kaya further detailed the financial strain, noting that transfer fees and tax obligations during the winter period alone amounted to approximately 200 million Euros. A significant concern raised was the early collection and expenditure of 142 million Euros from revenues designated for 2026 and beyond by the previous administration. "In other words, future revenues were spent in advance, while the debt to be paid fell on the current board's shoulders," he explained.

Despite the financial challenges, Fenerbahçe remains focused on sporting success. Kaya declared the club's clear objective: "Our goal is clear. High Board Chairman Şekip Mosturoğlu echoed this sentiment, calling for unity among Fenerbahçe supporters. "Now is the time for Fenerbahçe to unite, to become one body," he urged. "Today is the day to amplify our common values that make us Fenerbahçe, not our differences. Our club has not a single second to lose anymore."
