Ferrari Unveils Limited Edition 12Cilindri Manuale with New Shift-by-Wire System

Ferrari has launched the 12Cilindri Manuale, a new limited-edition model that revives the joy of manual gear shifting for driving enthusiasts. This exclusive vehicle is based on the existing 12Cilindri but introduces an innovative, self-developed "Manuale" shift-by-wire system. Ferrari states the car is designed for drivers who crave a pure, engaging driving experience, aiming to replicate the interactive feel of Ferrari GT sports cars from the 1950s to the 1970s.

The new system builds upon Ferrari's current 8-speed dual-clutch transmission but incorporates a "Manuale" system comprising a manual gear lever, a clutch pedal, and a control module. This setup electronically preserves the mechanical feedback of traditional manual shifting, including gear change resistance, audible mechanical sounds, and the tactile feel of the gear lever. Drivers can operate the car using the gear lever and three pedals, shifting through gears 1 to 6 and reverse, or switch to fully automatic mode for convenience.

Visually, the 12Cilindri Manuale distinguishes itself with exclusive badging, five-spoke forged wheels, and design details reminiscent of the Ferrari 365 GTB4. It is available in 25 classic Ferrari colors, including a special launch color, Rosso Rubino. The interior features a classic Ferrari metal gear gate, a round aluminum gear knob, and a three-pedal layout, with the gear shift pattern mirroring a traditional 6-speed manual, including reverse in the top-left position. The driver's triangle has been ergonomically adjusted to enhance the mechanical driving atmosphere.

Powering the 12Cilindri Manuale is a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces 830 horsepower and can reach a maximum speed of 9,500 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds and has a top speed exceeding 340 km/h. Ferrari emphasizes that the high-revving nature of the V12 engine is further enhanced by the manual transmission, amplifying the driving pleasure.

Globally, only 1,499 units of the 12Cilindri Manuale will be produced. Taiwan is slated to receive the car in 2027, though pricing has not yet been disclosed. The car's central console, gear lever, knob, gate, and pedals have been redesigned using modern design language to reinterpret classic manual transmission elements.
