Fewer part-time jobs advertised for the first time in years

Part-time work, long a growing feature of Austria’s labor market, has shown its first clear reversal in years. The share of advertised part-time positions fell by one percentage point from the previous year, reaching 15%.

At the same time, full-time jobs accounted for 75% of advertised vacancies. That was the highest share in more than a decade, according to an analysis by the job platform karriere.at, which examined the positions listed on its website since last year.

The pattern is not uniform across the labor market. Working-time models differ considerably between occupations and between men and women. Care work continues to influence the unequal distribution of part-time employment by gender.
