FG Awards Contracts for Rehabilitation of 13 Police Training Institutions

The Federal Government has initiated a significant upgrade of its law enforcement capabilities by awarding contracts for the rehabilitation of 13 police training institutions nationwide. This move signifies a commitment to enhancing the infrastructure necessary for training and developing the police force.

Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, announced that 80 percent of the awarded contractors have already received their letters. This indicates a swift progression from the contract award stage to the commencement of work.

Macroeconomic progress must therefore continue its passage into jobs, purchasing power, business confidence and stronger subnational economies, because numbers become politically meaningful when citizens recognise themselves in their improvement.

Concurrently, Vice President Kashim Shettima, presiding over the 160th National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, stressed the importance of sustained economic reforms. He urged the council to ensure these reforms translate into concrete improvements for Nigerians, including job creation, increased purchasing power, and enhanced business confidence. Shettima emphasized that macroeconomic indicators only gain political significance when citizens experience their positive effects.

The NEC meeting also received updates confirming Nigeria's reclassification to frontier market status by FTSE Russell, a notable development in the country's financial landscape. Shettima's remarks underscored the administration's focus on policy continuity and measurable outcomes, stating that a government's true measure lies in its persistence with addressing problems and ensuring that promises made are fulfilled and visible to the public.
