FG Deploys NASENI Program to Boost Livelihoods and Productivity Nationwide

The federal government is actively deploying the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure's (NASENI) Sustainable Empowerment Programme (NSEP) across Nigeria. The initiative aims to ensure that advancements in science, engineering, and innovation translate into tangible improvements in people's lives and enable broader participation in the nation's growing innovation-driven economy.

Through this programme, we are taking NASENI directly to Nigerians, providing relevant skills, tools and technologies that can help people become more productive, build sustainable livelihoods and participate meaningfully in Nigeria’s growing innovation-driven economy.

Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, emphasized that the program brings NASENI's resources directly to Nigerians. He stated that the goal is to equip individuals with relevant skills, tools, and technologies that will boost their productivity, help them build sustainable livelihoods, and allow them to contribute meaningfully to the economy.

Abia State was selected as a key location for the NSEP due to its recognized strengths in enterprise, creativity, and manufacturing. Halilu noted that these qualities align perfectly with the "new NASENI" initiative, which prioritizes creation, collaboration, and commercialization. This strategic direction shifts the focus from research for its own sake to developing practical solutions that can be adopted by businesses and scaled by industries.

Halilu stressed that the support provided through NSEP is an investment in the beneficiaries' productive capacity, not merely a handout. NASENI plans to measure the program's success by the number of lives improved, businesses strengthened, jobs supported, and communities made more productive. The Guest of Honour, Dr. Armstrong Uma Takang, CEO of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), echoed the sentiment, emphasizing President Bola Tinubu's belief in serving one's community and the importance of bringing science and technology to entrepreneurship.
