FG provides inputs to 5,642 Gombe farmers

The Federal Government has distributed fertilizers and other agricultural inputs to 5,642 smallholder farmers in Gombe State as part of the Renewed Hope Smallholder Support and Value Chain Fund. This initiative targets the 2026 wet farming season and aims to enhance food production and agricultural value chains across Nigeria.

The program is a joint effort by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the Bank of Agriculture, and Algir Integrated Services Limited. It is designed to improve farmers' access to quality inputs, affordable financing, and extension services. The Renewed Hope Agenda's agricultural intervention seeks to provide smallholder farmers with financing, extension support, aggregation, and guaranteed market access for their produce.

Ayo Sotinrin, Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, represented at the event, stated that the program aims to alleviate the burden on farmers. He noted that the initiative has already financed nearly 200,000 farmers nationwide and distributed over 1.1 million bags of fertilizer and 16,470 metric tonnes of certified seeds. The program intends to reach two million farmers, with implementation coordinated by 20 Farmer Aggregation Companies across more than 20 states.

This fund does not stop at giving inputs; it follows the farmer through the season. Financing at planting, extension support through cultivation, and at harvest, guaranteed aggregation and offtake at fair value so that the reward of hard work is never lost to a distressed market.
