FG sues for peaceful coexistence over murder of four herders in Anambra

Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has urged for peaceful coexistence among citizens following the recent murder of four herders in Anambra state. The call aims to ensure unity, security, and development within the country.

Priscilla Madukwe, head of NEMA's Enugu operations office, led a fact-finding visit to the site of the attack in Agu-Ifite, Awka South Local Government Area. She condemned the "senseless killing" and emphasized the importance of living peacefully with neighbors.

The incident involved suspected gunmen storming the cattle camp of Aminu Mohammed on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of four herders. NEMA's delegation is gathering firsthand information to report back to Abuja and commiserate with the victims' families.

As the commissioner of police has already stated, investigations are ongoing and we must get to the root of this unfortunate incident.

Chinedu Okafor, Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies. He affirmed the state government's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on crime and assured the Hausa/Fulani community that those responsible would be brought to justice.

Gidado Siddiki, leader of the Fulani community in Anambra and deputy national director-general of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, commended the prompt visit by officials. He urged his community members to remain calm and avoid taking matters into their own hands, noting his long history of living peacefully in Anambra since 1986.
