The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) is significantly expanding its affordable housing initiatives by securing land across 28 states nationwide. This strategic move aims to deepen access to housing for citizens and bolster the authority's presence in all regions of the country.
In readiness to have presence in all the regions of the country, we have visited 28 states where each of the governors has given us prime lands.
Ezekiel Etuk, Executive Director of Estate Services at FHA, stated that governors in these 28 states have allocated prime lands for the projects. Construction activities have commenced in several of these locations, with groundbreaking ceremonies already conducted in Akwa Ibom, Abia, Kaduna, Abeokuta, and Abuja. The FHA is committed to delivering these projects efficiently.
Our management is also building a new federal housing authority where our allotteesโ properties are secured. This is very important; our services are faster and seamless.
Etuk also highlighted ongoing reforms designed to enhance service delivery and protect property records. The authority is digitizing property files, storing them securely on the Galaxy backbone, and working towards full automation of its operations. A new test laboratory is now operational for geological and integrity testing, ensuring the quality and safety of housing projects.
As part of the notable milestones that we have left in the past 26 months of our administration, we have commissioned a hundred units of houses in the FHA Estate at Ibadan, the FHA Expressview Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, the FHA Complex, Lugbe, Abuja, and the FHA Shopping Mall in Gwarinpa, Abuja. These were all projects that we inherited from our predecessors that were termed to be irredeemable and unachievable.
In the past 26 months, the FHA has successfully completed and commissioned several inherited projects that were previously deemed unachievable. These include a hundred housing units in Ibadan, the Expressview Estate in Lugbe, Abuja, a complex in Lugbe, and a shopping mall in Gwarinpa, Abuja. The authority is currently developing a 336-unit housing estate in Bwari, Abuja, with a target completion date before the end of the year. Etuk assured stakeholders of the FHA's commitment to professionalism and expertise in delivering these projects.
We are currently working on the FHA Estate Bwari, Abuja, which comprises 336 units with the target date of commissioning before the end of this year. As we put the seal of the Federal Housing Authority on this project today, we promise the good people of FCT and Nigeria, indeed, that we will be bringing the expertise and the professionalism that FHA has been known for over the years.
