FIA President Says Formula One Could Return to Argentina in 2029 or 2030

Argentina may have to wait until 2029 or 2030 for Formula One to return, but FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem says the country is moving in the right direction.

Speaking in Buenos Aires during the second day of the FIA American Congress, Ben Sulayem said adding Argentina to the 2027 calendar would be too soon. The future schedule is already full, he said, making 2029 or 2030 a more realistic target. He promised the organization’s “full support” and said the country’s return was “on the right path.”

Ben Sulayem visited the Oscar and Juan Gálvez Autodrome, which is undergoing comprehensive renovations to prepare a bid for international events. Formula One last raced in Argentina in 1998, while the country last hosted a World Rally Championship event in 2019.
