Fiji establishes Israel Allies Caucus in effort to promote moving national embassies to Jerusalem

Fiji has launched an Israel Allies Caucus within its parliament, signaling a strengthened commitment to fostering relations with Israel and promoting the relocation of national embassies to Jerusalem. This initiative marks the establishment of the 65th Israel Allies Caucus globally, a network dedicated to advancing pro-Israel parliamentary activities.

The newly formed caucus will be chaired by Fiji's Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka. Its core objectives include deepening bilateral ties with Israel, actively combating antisemitism, and opposing boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) initiatives. The launch ceremony, held at the Fijian Parliament in Suva, was attended by prominent figures including Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, Israeli Ambassador Maya Yaron, and Israel Allies Foundation President Josh Reinstein.

Prime Minister Rabuka delivered a keynote address at a subsequent Jerusalem Summit dinner, celebrating Fiji's decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem and encouraging other Pacific Island nations to follow suit. Representatives from Samoa, the Marshall Islands, Vanuatu, Micronesia, and Papua New Guinea, along with Australian MP Andrew Wallace, also participated in the events. Gavoka stated, “It is a great honor for Fiji to establish the 65th Israel Allies Caucus. As a nation that values faith, democracy, and friendship, we stand firmly with Israel.”
