Fils powers past Cobolli to reach Cincinnati final

French tennis player Arthur Fils advanced to the Cincinnati Open final after a commanding performance against seventh seed Flavio Cobolli on Saturday. Fils secured a 6-3, 6-4 victory in just 67 minutes, showcasing a strong display of skill and determination.

The 21st-seeded Fils quickly recovered after Cobolli broke his serve early in the first set to take a 2-1 lead. Fils broke back immediately to level the score at 2-2. The set remained tight until Fils elevated his game at 3-3, taking a 4-3 lead before decisively breaking Cobolli's serve in the eighth game, capitalizing on his opponent's unforced errors from the baseline.

Maintaining his momentum into the second set, Fils broke serve in the opening game. Although Cobolli managed to hold his serve to love at 4-3, keeping the pressure on, Fils proved superior. He dictated play with sharp forehand shots, ultimately securing a 5-4 lead before clinching the match victory. Fils recorded 22 winners and six aces during the contest.

This victory marks another significant achievement for Fils, who also won the Barcelona Open in April. He is set to face the winner of the second semi-final match between Americans Brandon Nakashima and Frances Tiafoe in the championship final.
