Fire Breaks Out at Kuwait Power and Desalination Plant After Iranian Attack; Emergency Teams Respond

Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy reported a fire at a power generation and water desalination facility on Saturday, attributing the incident to a "heinous Iranian aggression."

The ministry stated that the attack necessitated immediate precautionary operational measures. Several generating units were disconnected to safeguard the facility and its employees, and to maintain the stability of Kuwait's electrical grid. Emergency response teams, in coordination with the General Fire Force and other authorities, are actively working to extinguish the fire and assess the damage.

All emergency and operational plans were activated immediately following the incident. The ministry assured that efforts are underway to ensure the continued stability of electricity and water services, minimizing any potential impact on consumers. Technical teams are conducting round-the-clock monitoring of the power and water networks.

In light of these exceptional circumstances, the ministry called on citizens and residents to conserve electricity, particularly during peak demand hours between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm. Reducing consumption during these times will help alleviate pressure on the national power grid, assisting technical teams in their repair work and the restoration of full operational capacity. The ministry pledged to provide ongoing updates through official channels and cautioned the public against spreading unconfirmed reports or rumors.
