Fire damages Bishkek construction site; safety violations cited

A fire at a Bishkek construction site on July 7 caused damage to the upper section of an underground parking garage for a 16-story residential complex. The blaze, which began around 9 a.m. on Yunusaliev Street, was quickly contained thanks to a timely fire alarm system. Officials confirmed that the building's main load-bearing structures and engineering systems remained unharmed.

Preliminary investigations suggest the fire ignited from construction waste near the parking area. Specialists from the State Department of Architectural and Construction Control, along with the State Institute for Seismic-Resistant Construction and Engineering Design, conducted an inspection following the incident. They determined that while the fire was contained, the construction company, "BorSan Construction," failed to comply with safety requirements.

Authorities issued citations and directives to the company, mandating adherence to all site safety measures and specific construction production standards. The firm was also instructed to obtain a fire safety clearance from the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the ongoing project. The exact causes of the fire are still under investigation by competent authorities.
