Fire departments from Hamme, Lokeren, and Wichelen practice boat accident scenario under Mirabrug

Multiple fire departments converged under the Mirabrug, the bridge spanning the Durme river between Hamme and Waasmunster, for a significant training exercise on Tuesday. The drill aimed to simulate a complex emergency scenario involving a boat accident.

The exercise scenario depicted a collision between a speedboat and a bridge pier. This simulated incident included two individuals who had fallen into the water, presumed drowning victims, and one person injured on board the vessel. The participating units included the fire departments from Hamme, Wichelen, and Lokeren.

This collaborative training allowed the different fire corps to practice their coordinated response protocols in a realistic setting.
