Fire engulfs Osorno military regiment, prompting massive response

A significant fire erupted Tuesday at the Regimiento Arauco in Osorno, Chile, prompting firefighters to sound a fifth alarm due to the emergency's scale. The blaze raged uncontrolled within the military compound, located at the intersection of O'Higgins and Barros Arana streets. Numerous fire companies were intensely engaged in efforts to contain the flames and stop them from spreading to other sections of the facility.

Alejandro Rehbein, the provincial presidential delegate for Osorno, stated that "all fire companies from the province of Osorno are deployed to extinguish this fire." He also noted that preventive measures were being implemented for residents potentially affected by the smoke. "Carabineros personnel are inspecting condominium buildings in the vicinity to see if any individuals might be affected by the smoke. We are already calling on residents, obviously, to close their windows and take all necessary precautions," Rehbein added.
